Obituary of William Lawrence Worden
William Lawrence “Larry” Worden passed away on May 17, 2024, at the of 68. Larry was born November 12, 1955, in Germany to Hannelore “Lorie” (Eichberg) and the late William Lawrence Worden.
Growing up in the late 50’s and early 60’s, Larry was raised an army brat by his mother and step-father, Doug Salter, alongside his siblings: Susie (Joey), Kathy (Lorne), Jeanne, Dougie Jr., and Angie (Bob). Larry also had an older brother, Klaus, who remained in Germany, not to mention the countless cousins and friends in and around the Oromocto and Saint John areas, including his best friend and cousin, Carl Jones.
Larry was fortunate enough to cross our beautiful country a few times, mostly by foot and thumb, however, along the way, he stopped long enough to marry not one, but two pretty terrific women.
Larry and his late wife, Tina Marie (Murphy) Worden, shared 36 years of love, a bond strong enough only to be broken by her passing. Tina was his “Sweet Pea”, his soul mate and his one and only. On Larry’s back, he proudly wore the words “My Wife, My Life, My Love”.
Joined together in love and solidarity with Larry’s first wife, Donna Robichaud (Pierre), Larry was blessed by these two women with his greatest gifts, his children: Shawn Worden (Carrie-Ann), Michelle Inglis (Martin), Michael Worden, Graham Worden (Krysta Connell), and Tristan McLaughlin. From these seeds sprouted the apples of Larry’s eye, his grandchildren: Anna Inglis, Mardi Rae Inglis, Maggie May Belle Worden, Serena Langlois McLaughlin, Waylon Stone Worden, Lennan Jayne Worden, Tallulah Rose Worden, and Evelynn Marie Worden; and the cherry on top, his little “Puddin’ Head”, his great-granddaughter, Elyra Inglis.
Larry was a history buff, an avid reader and gamer, and he also kept several cats over the years that he loved dearly. Larry lived out his later years as he chose, holding Local 1386 “Union Meetings” in his kitchen where all important matters were settled over a few pops. Most importantly, Larry will be remembered for lending an ear and offering knowledge and advice to family, friends, and strangers, because that was his true calling.
Larry passed away in Bobby’s Hospice at peace, surrounded by his family and with a hint of purple haze in the air.
Larry’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank his Nurse, Jacqueline, and the Palliative Care Team for helping him stay home as long as possible, and to Bobby’s Hospice for letting his last couple of days be comfortable and peaceful. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), where a time of visitation will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.
