Obituary of Jean "John" Henri Richard

Jean “John” Henri Richard passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, surrounded by family at Tucker Hall. John was 81.  

Although born in Tracadie, John was a long time Saint John resident who worked with Irving for many years until his retirement. Many will remember John as a long time Habs fan, a lover of cold beer, an expert couponer and a generous and caring person to his South End neighbours. Whether you knew John or not, you likely would have seen him while he expertly navigated the SJ Transit system, or while he walked non-stop through Brunswick square, the City Market or the rest of Uptown.

He is predeceased by his life-long love, Veronica Cantwell (née Lyver). John will be remembered by his son, Troy (and Nancy) Richard and stepdaughter April (and Chris) Maber; his grandchildren: Aidan, Spencer, Katie, Christopher, and Austin; and all of his extended family.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). A private family gathering will be held in his memory. If you so wish, donations can be made to Tucker Hall (Shannex Inc), which plays such an important role in looking after our most important treasure - family - during their most fragile years.
