Visitation
Obituary of Bernard Parent
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Bernard Parent announces his passing which took place on May 27, 2024 at the Saint John Reginal Hospital. Born on August 2, 1947 in Perth Andover, NB, he was a son of the late Iona Laforest (Barr) and Joseph Ovide Parent.
Bernie lived a life on the move, spending decades behind the wheel as a dedicated truck driver. With stints at Day & Ross, Avon Valley, and ICS Courier, he travelled the province, delivering goods and building a reputation for reliability. Bernie’s hands-on sprit didn’t stop there – he was also a self-taught handyman, tackling home renovations with gusto (and occasionally, a dash of creativity!). While some projects may have raised eyebrows, his determination and pride shone through. When he wasn’t on the road or tinkering with tools, Bernie’s heart belonged to his beloved pets, Buddy and Zander, who will deeply miss their loyal companion and friend.
He will be missed by his children: Racheal Crawford (Chad), Tracy Lynn Gallant (Tom) and James Parent (Jennifer) and his grandchildren, Jayna, Emalee, Chelsey, Max, Jaxon, Jolie, Kyle and Riley.
Bernie was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Yvette Parent; his parents, Iona Laforest (Barr) and Joseph Ovide Parent; stepfather Russell Knox; brother Jack and sister, Lynda.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) where visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A private interment service will take place at a later date in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
For those who wish, remembrances made to A Living Memorial, Kidney Foundation of Canada or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
