Celebration of Life
Obituary of Darrell Eugene Johnson
Darrell Eugene Johnson, a loving father, grandfather, and partner, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2024, in Saint John, NB, at the age of 73. Born on June 12, 1950, in McAdam, New Brunswick, Darrell's was known for his no-nonsense approach to living and his unique sense of humor.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice (Gillis) and Rolfe Johnson, and his brother Paul.
Survived by his daughters, Krista (Kirk) and Kim (Mark), Darrell was a rock of support and strength for his family. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his four grandchildren: Alexis, Kelsey (Joey), Ashlynn (Aaron), and Bailey (Ceilidh), and delighted in the laughter of his two great-grandchildren, Chase and Levi. Darrell's siblings, Lowell (Yvonne), Karen (Ken), Jo-Ann (Frank), Dean (Randine), and Brian (Carrie), along with their families, share fond memories of his warmth and humor.
Darrell's journey was enriched by his life partner, Rachel, and her family, adding love and adventures to his life.
In life, Darrell faced challenges head-on, much like he tackled the golf course or reeling in a big one during fishing expeditions. A true daredevil, he never shied away from testing his luck at the casinos, especially during his legendary trips to Las Vegas with his siblings, where they'd bond over games of chance and reminiscing on wild adventures when they were young. Darrell had a passion for sports, especially when cheering on his family from the sidelines.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). A private family Graveside Service will take place in McAdam, NB, on Friday, June 14, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held from O'Malley's Pub (621 Rothesay Avenue, Saint John, NB) on Saturday, June 15, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM.
