Obituary of Barbara Anne Dineen
With heavy hearts, the family of Barbara Anne (Scovil) Dineen announce her passing on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at her residence in Tucker Hall. Born July 9, 1945, in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Henry A. and Marjorie R. (Follett) Scovil.
Barb was a proud Red Hatter and a member of TOPS. Many will fondly remember her as the neighborhood babysitter for many of the children in Fundy Heights. Barb was happiest when traveling with Nancy's bus tours, exploring new places and meeting new people. One of her favorite destinations was Newfoundland, where she found peace and joy in the rugged beauty of the landscape. She loved her Tim Hortons crew and cherished her lunches with the Tuesday lunch girls at the Coffee Mill, where laughter and good company were always guaranteed. Above all, Barb treasured spending time with her friends and family, creating lasting memories and spreading warmth and love to all who knew her.
Barb is survived by her children, Chris Dineen (Liza Ring-Dineen) and Cathy Dineen, and their father, John Dineen; grandchildren: Tyler (Maggie McLeod), Riley, and Abby Ring-Dineen and Zachary Clouston; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Ring; and her very special friend, Donna Henderson. She was predeceased by her parents.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11 am from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
