Obituary of Diane Lorraine Kerr

It is with great sadness that the family of Diane Lorraine (Mullett) Kerr announces her passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 25, 2024, after a brief illness. Born in Saint John, NB, on June 26, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Shirley (Wright) Mullett.

Diane co-founded Kerr Optical with her husband Doug in 1972, before beginning her new career with Sears. During her over 30-year tenure at Sears, she formed lasting relationships with great friends who she remained close with. She enjoyed summer vacations at the family cottage and Old Orchard Beach, surrounded by loved ones. Those gatherings brought her great joy and created lifelong memories with her family and childhood friends who she loved to reconnect with.

Diane leaves behind her loving husband of 62 years, Douglas; son, Mark Kerr (Robyn); daughters, Kim Hachey (Chris) and Wendy Kerr; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Hachey, Christopher Hachey (Angie), Danielle Olde Damink (Dan), Geoff Hachey, Katie Kerr (Chris), Madison Kerr, Kota Christie (Abby); six great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hachey, Kellen Hachey, Connor Hachey, Adalyn Olde Damink, Nora Olde Damink, Jacob Olde Damink; brothers, Frederick Mullett (Sue), Donald Mullett (Norma), Peter Mullett (Peggy), Paul Mullett (Rosanne), Mike Mullett (Shawn); as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Diane was predeceased by her brother, Patrick Mullett; sister, Holly Mullett; nephews, Dana Mullett and Gary Mullett; as well as her great-nephew, Greg Fudge.

The family would like to give special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff of 4CN at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). With visitation on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, from 2:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Redeemer Parish (St. Pius X) on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Diane may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Bobby’s Hospice.
