Obituary of Dorothy Jean Dickson

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy “Dot” Jean Dickson, which occurred on the 28th of July 2024. Born on the 20th of October 1932, to the late William and Edith (nee Marlin) Hazelwood. Born and raised in Saint John, Dorothy worked for C.N. Rail company for 40 years before retiring.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald Dickson, her brother, William Hazelwood Sr., and nephew William Hazelwood Jr. along with her parents. She will be missed by her niece, Heather Padden (Peter) of British Columbia, great niece Jasmine Padden of British Columbia, great nephew, Alex Hazelwood (Jess) of Saint John, as well as her good friend Gayla Atkinson and Clytie Scott.

Dot was an avid member of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church, spending many years as a Sunday School Teacher and Lay reader during her younger years. 

The family wishes to thank the staff at Garden Court, Rocmaura Nursing Home for the excellent care that Dorothy received over the past two years.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick (506 634 7424).  Her visitation will take place on August 1st from 10AM to 11AM at the church of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s (646 Westmorland Road, Saint John, New Brunswick), with the service starting at 11AM, immediately following visitation.
