Dear Rose & family I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Bernie & Rose were a big part of our family growing up. I remember Bernie calling Dad to help with a party that was not supposed to be on your new property. I was caught at Ganz's restaurant having a coffee & Dad took me home (not happy). They knew I was at the party because I never drank coffee. He never held it against me as I still got to babysit the family & I was paid well! Our family shared so many wonderful memories over the years. I am blessed to say he was a big part of my life. Sending sincere condolences to all. He will surely be missed. xo

I am so deeply sorry that we have lost sweet Uncle Bernie. I remember so clearly the day he brought his fiancee Rose over to meet us for the first time when we were living on Lansdowne Avenue. My brother Paul and I were probably about six at the time. Rose was wearing a pretty white blouse and one of those full colourful skirts that were fashionable at the time. She looked so beautiful. And believe it or not, she was very shy on that occasion. It was obvious that Bernie and Rose were head over heels in love. I have such great memories of the many times they entertained family and friends in their lovely, welcoming home. Their love for family and their dedication to parish and community have been examples for us all. Bernie was especially supportive when Mom lost Dad. He installed security features in her home as she was very nervous about being alone. He was always ready and willing to help out if Mom needed anything fixed or replaced. I came home one summer to visit and found Uncle Bernie hard at work doing a big repair job on Mom's front porch stairs. A kinder, more generous, more loving man has never walked this Earth. I extend heartfelt condolences to Aunt Rose, to my cousins Nancy, Kathleen, Debbie, Susan, Michael, and Terry, and to all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. I will always love Uncle Bernie and will remember fondly that little twinkle in his eye that signalled he was about to make a funny remark as only Uncle Bernie could. May we all be reunited in heaven one day. ~Jane McNulty
