Obituary of Barbara Heather Laureen Manzer
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Barbara Heather Laureen (Munroe) Manzer announces her passing which occurred at the Church of St John and St. Stephen Nursing Home on Thursday, August 15, 2024. Born in Saint John on May 28, 1935, she was the only daughter of the late Robert (Call) and Grace Fenton (Coupe) Munroe.
Barb is survived by her daughters; Cyndy Morris (Marc Gosselin), Christa Illman (Randy Parlee) and Clare Manzer (Peter Vincent), brother Bruce Munroe (Barbara), grandchildren; Sean Illman (Erin), Allan Morris (Brittany), Megan Morris (Lesroy), Brittany Manuel (Adam), Bruce Illman (Kelly), and Andrew McLean (Jacob), and great-grandchildren; Trey, Jack, Beau, Heath, Georgia, Call, Gemma, and Ahri. Barb was pre-deceased by her parents, brothers; Robert (Bob) Munroe and William (Billy) Munroe, and son-in-law’s Norman Illman and Craig McLean.
Barb was a life-long resident of Saint John and Rothesay and worked as a teacher at a number of various schools in the Saint John area. Barb was a long-time member of Riverside Golf and Country Club where she played golf and was an avid curler. Barb was a past President of the Riverside Ladies Golf Club where she forged many friends as a member. Barb also was an avid bridge player at various bridge clubs. Nanny Barb enjoyed entertaining and spending time with all of her grand and great-grand children hosting many dinners and Christmas teas with the little ones. Barb was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church and enjoyed their Sunday service. Barb had a love of nature and enjoyed gardening and had a good green thumb. In later years her grand-dog Gracie was the light and love of her day as she took her daily for many walks throughout Rothesay.
The family would like to extend their thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Dobbelsteyn’s Special Care Home and the entire staff of the St. John and St. Stephen Nursing home. Your compassion will not be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (4 Church Ave, Rothesay, NB) on Monday, August 19, 2024, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
