Obituary of Carol Whitney

It is with great sadness that the family of Carol Anne Elizabeth Whitney announces her passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 15th, 2024.  Born in Saint John, NB, on October 14th, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William and Ruby (Fitzgerald) White.

Carol leaves behind her loving children: son, Bruce Downs, Riverview, NB; son, Kevin (Charlene) Downs, Mt. Uniacke, NS; son, Jeff (Cindy) Downs, Stellarton, NS; step-children, Rob (Wendy) Whitney, Saint John, NB; Rose (Ross) Fowler, Rothesay, NB; Aimee Marchesi, New Hampshire; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Jamie (Tyson), Thomas, Jeremy and Justine; great grandchild, Bodhi; step-grandchildren, Benjamin, Melissa, Andrew (Samantha), Victoria (Nathanael), Greg (Derrica), William, Sophia, Olivia; step-great grandchild, Bethany; brothers, William (Marion) White and James (Peggy) White; sister, Janice (Robert) Clements; sisters-in-law, Pam White and Ruth White; brother-in-law Peter Whitney as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Whitney; brothers, Robert White, David White and Rick White.

Carol spent many years working in banking, ending her career in Yarmouth, NS as branch manager. She enjoyed curling, tole painting and Friday meals with her close friends in Yarmouth. She loved the many dogs in her life and enjoyed taking them on long walks.

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the staff of Dobbelsteyn Care Home, Dr. Luan Le as well as the nurses and staff of 5CN and of 4AN at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). There will be no Funeral Service or visitation by request.

Donations can be made to Dobbelsteyn Care Home or to a charity of choice.
