Obituary of Jacquelyn Lynn Banks
Jacquelyn L Banks (nee Gillespie) born March 25, 1943, in Ottawa, Ontario, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her family, at Loch Lomond Village in Saint John, NB on August 30, 2024. She is survived by her loving daughters, Carol Lachapelle (Denis) and Cathy Anthony (Howard), her grandchildren, Justin (Danielle), Kaitlyn (Gregory), and Courtney (Benjamin) as well as her longtime companion, Rodney Steeves.
Married to Charles S Banks (passed away in 2005) for 25 years, she spent her early married life as a devoted young mother of 2, living in Europe, and traveling the world. She later settled in rural New Brunswick and made that her final home.
A true outdoors woman, Jackie lived her life exactly as she wanted, through simple pleasures .. spending hours in her large gardens, feeding wild birds, walking in the woods, and snowshoeing in winter with lots of wildlife, forests, hills, and rivers surrounding her.
She was feisty, fierce, and a force to be reckoned with. Jackie had a sharp wit, a wicked sense of humor, and a keen sense of style. She loved her family deeply, and took great pride in baking delicious breads and treats for those she cared for, along with making all manner of pickles and preserves from her garden’s bounty, which were shared near and far.
Soon to be reunited with her cherished parents, Olive Pauline, and John Prescott Gillespie, her life is brought full circle, and we are left with precious memories of a life well lived.
As per Jackie’s wishes, there will be no visitation or formal service at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home in Saint John, NB. For those who would like to donate in Mum's name, we invite you to consider the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
