Obituary of Alta Myrtle Neilsen
It is with sadness that the family of Alta Myrtle Neilsen (Wark), wife of the late Carl Malcolm Neilsen, announces her passing which occurred on September 26, 2024 six days short of her 102nd birthday. Born at Sisson Ridge, NB on October 2, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Eliza Wark (Griffiths).
Alta is survived by three children: son, Seward (Joanne) of Rothesay, NB; daughter, Brenda (Kirk) Knowles of Lehigh Acres, Florida and son, Dwight (Kenda) of Moncton, NB; five grandchildren: Michael (Christine Fairweather) of Airdrie, AB, Kristi (Larry Crandall) of Saint John, NB, Adam and Andrew of Edmonton, AB and Amanda (Eric) Widener of Summerville, SC; nine great-grandchildren: Noah, Isaiah and Joshua Neilsen of Airdrie, AB, Grace Stuart of Saint John, NB, Charlee and Beck Widener of Summerville, SC and Ryan, Jacob and Austin Neilsen of Edmonton, AB; as well as her brother, Neil Wark.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her grandson, Jordan Bourque; her sisters, Lois Goodine and Marilyn Harding and her brothers, Dale, Ralph, Lorne and Guy.
Arrangements are entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, Paradise Row, Saint John, NB where visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 1:00 - 1:45 PM and will be followed by the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. A reception will follow the service in Brenan’s Reception Centre. Interment will be in the Presbyterian Rural Cemetery, Perth-Andover, NB on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Kaylee and the staff at Concorde Hall, Shannex in Quispamsis for their loving care of Mom in her final days.
