Condolences to the Barry family on the passing of Father Kevin Barry, our former priest at St Alphonsus Parish, Hampton. Being of Irish Heritage, we always enjoyed his quick Irish wit and sometimes were treated to a tune on his harmonica. A very spiritual person, his special gift for public speaking always kept the attention of the parishioners as he gave his homilies without script, always speaking from the heart.Rest in peace Father Kevin. Sincerely, Elward & Phyllis McMackin Family

My heartfelt sympathy to all Fr.Kevin’s family members. We first met in 1962 while attending a YCS ( Young Christian Students) National Conference at Assumption University in Windsor, Ontario. Fr.Kevin had brought four students from St.Dunstan’s Parish and I was one of 4 students from St.Vincent’s Girl’s High School. He made a strong impression on me at that time. We reconnected in 1977 when we moved to Rothesay. Fr.Kevin had the gift of calling people’s gifts forward and empowering them. He and Sr.Doreen McGuire were a team teaching, guiding and encouraging others to be their best. He was a visionary that brought life, joy love, music and laughter wherever he called home. What an honour to visit him at Embassy Hall where he said, “ please tell everyone to call me “ Kevin”. Our community has been blessed by Fr.Kevin’s presence. He will never be forgotten. Thank you, “ good and faithful servant” for the many ways you have touched our souls. God bless your family as you mourn and grieve.

To the many members of Father Kevin’s “Barry Clan”;
We send our sincerest sympathies as you bid farewell to your dear uncle/great uncle Father Kevin. May you be blessed with the knowledge that Kevin’s love filled, spirit filled and faith filled “Barry Roots” nourished him every day of his life.
Kevin was and will always remain an inspiration to all who were blessed to experience his Presence among us ....”God’s People”. He understood and responded to “The Call” that would revolutionize the Catholic Church after Vatican ll.
In 1978 the people of Saint Mark’s, a newly formed and young faith community were blessed to welcome Kevin and Doreen as our first pastoral team. There are no words to describe those early years of our Church, we were living and being the Church Pope Francis is encouraging us to be today ...... Kevin was a visionary and the Spirit of the people of Saint Mark’s were rooted in the words that Father Kevin believed and lived throughout his priestly ministry “you the people, are the Church”.
Thank you Kevin, Thank God for you
The Wind Beneath Our Wings
Love, Ellen and Maynard Robart
Fly high Kevin, fly high above the sky

I am so sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. He was an inspiration in so many ways – his brilliant intellect, spiritual insights and deep compassion were gifts that he shared generously. He and Sr. Doreen McGuire were a pastoral team unlike any I have ever encountered; their work together had a profound effect on my spiritual journey and that of many others. I am so very grateful. I extend my sincere condolences to Doreen, to Kevin’s nieces and nephews, and to all who were touched by the life of this truly good man.

He would attend Saturday Night at the 5:00 Mass at Our Lady the Assumption along side Sister Doreen McGuire.. I have so many treasured memories of Fr Kevin who was so incredibly more than my Pastor! He was a very cherished friend. In the most difficult years of my Life, Kevin listened, comforted and gave me strength to continue on. Not once when I called Him crying did He ever say I am busy or this is not a good time. So many special times at His cottage as every summer He loaned me His cottage for a weekend with my family. Kevin, I can only imagine the Wonder that you are seeing now as you witness all the Lives you gave Comfort, Support and Strength without Judgement. My Grandson Cameron always called Kevin, Uncle Barry. What a Sign of God’s Love for all God’s children you were! Never forgotten! Barb Stillman and George Stillman

The Parishoners of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rothesay mourn the loss of Father Kevin who was such a presence to the People of the Kennebecasis Valley, and indeed, to the Diocese of Saint John. He has contributed so much to the RC Church, in the Spirit of Vatican II.
