Obituary of Margaret Irene Gordon
It is with an appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Margaret Gordon of Saint John, wife of the late Kenneth Gordon, announce her passing which occurred on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 6, 1924 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late William and Jenny (Price) Edison.
Prior to her retirement, Margaret worked in central supply at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She was a woman of strong faith and was a lifelong member of the CWL. Margaret shared her gift of music by singing at weddings and participating in many choirs over the years. She was a loyal and proud member of the Liberal Party, PRUDE Inc. and was active on various social committees throughout the city. She will be greatly missed.
Margaret will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Charlene Gordon (George Stackhouse) and Deborah Godin; sister, Patricia Sequin (George); grandchildren, Zacharie Godin (Tara), Ariana McIsaac (Matthew), Winona Tilley (Peter), Sarah Tieu (Trung) and Anna Stackhouse; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Paisley, Kai and Owen; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Rosaline Edison, Inez Beshara and Beatrice DeBellive and brothers, Sydney, Ronald, Joseph, William Jr., James, Charles and Richard.
Margaret’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nurses at Saint John Extramural for the wonderful care they provided. Also, thank you to the paramedics who assisted her and to the ER team for their care and concern. A special thank you to Dr. Chris O’Brien and the SJRH Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional care provided to Margaret. To Father Doug McNeill, thank you for your spiritual care and support.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) where visitation will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024 from 2:00 - 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church, 201 Bayside Drive, Saint John on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
