To the entire Hill family, that I would like to offer my sincere condolences in the loss of dear Steve.I have known Steve for 40 years as we walked .many a walk with dogs wherever that might be as we changed things up abit.A true gentleman he was
We would go our separate ways for awhile then reconnect as if time stood still. Our relationship was that way.My husband died young and I was left to care for everything
Many a time I would come home to a mowed lawn a shovelled driveway. One year I came home to find my house decorated for Christmas.Thats who he was very very kind, the gentle giant. His infectious smile had me from hello. Many times over many years we would meet on New Years eve quite often to hook up for Chinese food and ring in the new year at St Rest Beach .Oh I will miss him.Had I known he was ill I would have been there.I am so sorry we had not seen each other in awhile .He was my sounding board and I his.We solved alot of world issues on our dog walks..Aliot of laughterAll he would have to do is smile and all my woes were solved
He would often speak so highly of his mom his aunt and John. You will truly miss him.I had hoped to attend today's celebration of Steve but unfortunately my work schedule did not afford me the time
In my thoughts and prayers
Eileen Colllins - Dobson
I loved you Steve and will miss you forever

I’ve known Stephen since I was 8-9 years old. We are same age and lived next door to each other. We grew up together, building forts in the woods, playing “kick the can” and one hundred other games. Stephen often came on family outings with us cuz he was so easy going and my parents enjoyed having him along.
One big memory I have is how Stephen taught me how to play tennis when courts were built at the end of our street. Steve had amazing patient with me because I am not coordinated, and it took me forever to get anywhere close to being a challenge for him. I would never have learned without him.
I also remember his love for dogs. Growing up we had a dog, and he did not. He adored any and all dogs and it was one of his happiest days when he got his first Shepherd (was it Paws?)
I had not seen Stephen since 2019 as I no longer live in SJ. I know he was a good friend and a good man. I will miss him and remember him as a big part of my growing up.

Dear Edna, John and Family,
We send deep and heartfelt condolences to all of you who loved Steve so dearly. We have only known Steve for about 10 years through our own friend, Bill Dempster, to whom Steve was so incredibly kind! Steve was a dear and sweet man, so gentle, and the world has needed more like him! We knew Steve adored his dogs and we were touched to learn he also loved Rockwood Park, a very spiritual place to us. The world has lost a very good person, and so have you. Again, our fondest sympathies. Rest in perfect peace Steve.

I am so sorry to learn that Steve has passed. I worked at Braxco for four summers with Steve and enjoyed my time there.
Steve was very kind and would always be the first to lend a helping hand. I also enjoyed playing ball hockey with him and was very grateful he was our goalie. We also enjoyed playing golf together having a good laugh at our lack of ability.
My deepest sympathy to his family.

Grew up with Steve, from next door neighbours and devoted LEAF fans (I remember making pyramids during the Red Kelly pyramid power years (1970's), looking after the out door rink at the end of the street, flooding it before then after hockey night in Canada on a Saturday nights then early Sunday mornings being the first on the clean sheet of ice. He started off as Doug Favell, then Mike Palmateer and I was Borje Salming and our buddy Jeff was Daryl Sittler. We played sun up to sun down so many days.
I got my first job at Braxco thanks to Steve. $1. 30/hr I believe in those days. Still seems like I had more money in the bank then than now...I didn't get to see Stephen much over the last 50 years living away most of it but always remember the great goalie, dog lover, Leaf fan and friend from years ago. He was a great friend and a good man. He will be missed.
