Obituary of Michael John Black
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts the family of Michael J. Black announce his passing which occurred on December 1, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, N.B., on February 17, 1960, to the late Muriel (Phillips) Black and Percy Laird.
Michael is survived by his partner D. Robert Gordon Hooper, sisters; Deborah Ashbridge (Donnie) of Midland, N.B., and Juanita Black of Saint John, N.B., brothers; Barry Black of Saint John, N.B., and Kevin Black of Moncton, N.B., sisters-in-law; Lorraine Ellis (Dana) and Darlene Hooper (Brian), brother-in-law Leonard Hooper, his special girl Mabel, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly reuinted with his parents and brother Pearl Allan.
Michael worked for Pete's Froutique in Moncton, Fredericton, and Saint John. Mike also enjoyed volunteering at the Crescent Valley Community Tenants Association, and playing a good game of cards; 45's, chase the ace, rumoli, or whatever was being played at the time.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (506-634-7424). Visitation will take place at Brenan's on Thursday, December 5, 2024, from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 2:00 PM with interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery (1650 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, N.B.) to follow. A special thanks to the honourary pallbearers Linda and Patrick Ashbridge, Kathryn and Adam Black, Keith Howe, and David Hooper.
