Obituary of William Robert Gillcrist
It is with heavy hearts that the family of William Robert Gillcrist announce his passing on December 7, 2024, at Ridgewood Veterans’ Wing. Born on March 16, 1924, in St. Martins, NB, he was the son of the late Graydon and Dora (Brown) Gillcrist.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rena (Armstrong) Gillcrist and by six of his brothers and his five sisters. His loss will be deeply felt by his children: Karen Fillmore (Steve), Kevin Gillcrist, and Trish Logan (Graham) as well as cherished granddaughter, Kelsey Fillmore-Snow (Kaelen). He will also be greatly missed by his youngest brother, Ward Gillcrist (Shirley), and by his many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in Brown’s Cemetery, Bains Corner, NB in the spring of 2025.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Bobby’s Hospice, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Bill’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and dedicated staff at Ridgewood Veterans’ Wing for the kindness and compassion shown to Bill and his family.
