Obituary of Claire Frances McGowan
The family of Claire Frances McGowan wish to announce her death at Parkland Millidgeville Tucker Hall on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Claire was the loving wife of Murray for 68 years. Claire was just shy of her 90th birthday, born in Saint John on Christmas Day. Left to mourn her passing are sons, Michael (Dana) and Dan (Joan); grandchildren, Annie and Sean; sister-in-law, Barbara Morrow (Bill); brother-in-law, Don McGowan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Claire was the daughter of the late George and Helen (Dowd) McGillivray and was predeceased by her sisters and brothers, Kathleen, Ronald, Bernard, Helen, Carmel, Joseph, Gerard, Eileen, Paul, Fr. Maurice and Fr. Gregory.
Claire spent most of her professional time working at the New Brunswick Workers Compensation Board, a job she really enjoyed. However, her passion was to provide a delightful and supportive home for her family.
Claire's family especially wish to thank her friend, Linda Cormier for the love and care shown to Claire and Murray over the years.
Words cannot express how grateful we are to the caring and professional staff at Parkland Millidgeville for their enduring kindness, and for the extra time and attention shown to Claire and Murray throughout the years.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). At the family's request there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 12:00 pm from Holy Redeemer Parish (316 Somerset Street) with interment in Saint Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or as a special remembrance at this time of year, please consider a donation to your local food bank. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
