Obituary of Barbara Jean Ellis
It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Jean Ellis (Mercer) of St. Martins, NB announces her passing on December 26, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born October 5, 1941, in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Violet (Carrick) Mercer.
Barb will be profoundly missed by her husband Glendon L. Ellis, son John Ellis, daughter Anne (Steven) McPhee, brother John Mercer, granddaughter Rebecca Sherriff, grandson Andrew McPhee, great-grandsons Jackson MacNamara-Bowland and Avery Craft, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly reunited with her parents, and sisters Carolyn Carlin and Susan Ruddock.
Barb began her career as an RN at the Saint John General and St. Joseph’s Hospitals and then spent the majority of her career as medical secretary for Dr. Gerald Maloney until retirement. Barb loved reading and spending time with family and friends and her greatest enjoyment was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). In keeping with Barb’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services at this time.
