Obituary of Freeman Marquis Mohra
The family of Freeman Marquis Mohra announce his peaceful passing at Rocmaura Nursing Home on December 30, 2024, with family at his side.
Freeman was a proud father to Shawn (Vicky) and Sheana, and grandfather to Sarah and Michael Buckley and Hunter and Hazel Mohra. He will be missed by the mother of his children, Marie, and his sisters Joan (Sam) Smith and Ann LeBreton (Al Hadfield), cousins, especially Harold (Barb) Foshiem, and nephew Mark.
Born on January 26, 1946, he almost made his 79th birthday. He was predeceased by his mother Blanche LeBreton, stepfather Joe, and his father Johannes Mohra.
Freeman was an avid outdoorsman with interests in hunting, fishing, archery, and nature, which he passed on to his son, Shawn. He loved to hunt, it was more about being in nature, his respect for animals and nature was foremost in his heart. His best trip was one with Shawn in the Foothills of the Rockies in Alberta. The majesty of the land and its animals was touching to him and spending time sharing this with his son was meaningful. His soft spot for animals was especially strong with his many treasured dogs through the years, each trained by him personally.
He was a voracious reader and could often be found asleep on the couch with his current book in hand. He was curious and reading allowed him to be knowledgeable about many things. As a result, he was a self-taught master of many skills including car and boat mechanics, gunsmithing, masonry, carpentry, and building. In his early years, he loved being on the Miramichi River, or any body of water and he loved racing stock cars and watching races.
Freeman’s family are forever grateful to the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home who provided a caring home to him in his last days. They are angels on earth, each and every one in each department. They live the mission of Rocmaura each day.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424). In keeping with Freeman’s wishes, there is no visitation or service.
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Rocmaura Foundation at 10 Parks Street, Saint John, NB (506-643-7090).
