Obituary of Bayard Maxwell Herrington

It is with very sad and heavy hearts that the family of Bayard Maxwell Herrington announce his passing on January 7, 2025, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Nancy (Irvine); his son, Bruce (Lisa); his daughter, Beth (Brett Jones) and his daughter, Mary-Ann; and his grandchildren: Abby, Katie, Mallory, Morgan, and Tessa.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bayard and Mary (Doucette) Herrington; his brother, Edward “Ted”; and his son-in-law, Rick Roy.

Besides being on the water and his love of boats, his other passion was helping others in their time of need and loneliness. He had immense pride and dedication in his work with Hospice Saint John. Dad also made over 100 blood donations to Canadian Blood Services.

Max had a variety of interesting jobs from being a receiver of cargo ships at the port, welcoming the captains, selling life insurance, working at the Baptist Convention office, even learning to fix Xerox machines in his fifties, and his favourite one… “Retirement”.

Max enjoyed the many family picnics and camping trips in the rain, lots of day trips with his wife on warm sunny days. He also built, by hand, several mini boats with amazing detail and enjoyed his new hobby of model trains, thanks to his brother’s collection which continues on with his grandson Morgan, providing hours of memories.
