Obituary of Diana Lynn O'Connor-Richard

It is with great sadness that the family of Diana Lynn O’Connor-Richard announces her passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 14, 2025. Born in Yarmouth, NS, on August 6, 1946, she was a daughter of the late William “Mickey” and Mary (Brush) Pothier.

She worked at the Hilton Hotel for 35 years as a bartender and a banquet server. She also spent 17 years with the Cliff Club and Partown for Chef MacDonald. She then worked for the Crossing Guard with the city of Saint John for 10 years. Diana was a member of Tops 5244, a volunteer for the Knights of Columbus and was a devoted bingo player.

Diana leaves behind her husband, Emery Richard; son, Joel O’Connor (Sal Merani-O’Connor); stepdaughter, Stefanie Richard (Jesse Wilson); granddaughter, Soraya O’Connor; sisters, Ramona Johnson (Calvin), Darlene Hadland (Ron); as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Diana was predeceased by her first husband, William O’Connor; brothers, Raymond Pothier and Harry Pothier.

The family would like to give a special thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff of 5AN at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424). With visitation on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Holy Redeemer Parish (St. Pius X) on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Those unable to attend are welcome to view the service via Livestream by clicking the link on Diana's obituary on the Brenan's Website. Interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory of Diana may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
