Although I don't know you all personally, I was introduced to the Ideal Store by my mother......I remember getting my first store bought dress for a school dance from there. I could describe it in detail to anyone.......please accept my sincere condolences to all of the family........Starr...
I feel so privileged to have known Goldie (and Abe). Such incredibly welcoming people. Goldie made the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted. It was superlative, like everything else about her. My sincere condolences on the loss of such an amazing woman - truly an example of how to live a good life.
Goldie and Abe were wonderful persons whom I had the great opportunity to call my friends as well as personal clients. Their generosity and concern for all whether customers employees or just those whom they encountered in their daily life. Their children's love loyalty and concern for the well being of their parents was a great example of how all families should support each other. Closing the Ideal stores and later moving to Toronto where family support existed was a reluctant necessity. They loved their birthplace in Saint John. A life well lived is to be positively celebrated.
I was saddened to hear of Goldies passing. Our families go way back and she and your Dad were very special to all of us. May all your memories give you all comfort. I know I have wonderful ones, especially at Christmas on the arrival of homemade sweets and the fabulous fresh salmon salad. Rest in peace dear Goldie, you had a wonderful run!
Mrs Davis was such a lovely lady, always smiling and seemed to enjoy seeing her regular customers at the "Ideal Store". She allowed a young mother to be able to afford to buy beautiful clothes for my little girl. Even today when I drive up Union Street I remember how much the Ideal Store meant to so many. Sincere thoughts and prayers to her family.
I have wonderful fond memories of going to the Ideal store with my grandmother and mother and then my wife to shop for our kids !! Mrs Davis was always so warm and interested and kind !!! The conversation was lively the bargains were plenty sorry for your family's loss a great Lady to be sure !!!!
Goldie was indeed the best! I am sure she taught many through her good deeds, kindness and generosity. The first time I heard a heart knows a heart, my heart felt bigger. I will cherish my memories and lessons. Hugs and much love to family.
The Ideal Store was my first account, as a young advertising rep with the Evening Times Globe. Mr. and Mrs Davis were so friendly and pleasant, and I so looked forward to working on their newspaper ad with Abe. God Bless them and their families.
