Obituary of Goldie Garson Davis
Goldie Garson Davis left us in her 97th year on April 26, 2018. The daughter of Hyman and Annie Garson and one of four sisters. Goldie built a close immediate family - her children Philip, Rozzi and Nordau, Michael and Hyla, Susie and David; her grandchildren, Amit, Tracy, Lisa, Kris, Seth, Zoe, Ben, Leah, Anna, Colin, Liron, Adam, Beth, Tim, Aaron, Barry and Sarah, and her great- grandchildren: Nathan, Rhea, Cohen, Maya, Jake, Eliana, Abraham, Samson, Noah and Sophie.
She ensured a strong extended family, evidenced in the years of weekly visits and phone calls from Robert, Anna, Shawna, Paul, Barbie, Alan, Cathy and many, many others. Her strength came from her 67 year love affair with Abraham D. Davis, also of blessed memory. Together they ran the Ideal Stores in Saint John, New Brunswick, for over 50 years. "The Store" became the centre of gathering for the extended family and a touchstone for the community at large. Their move to Toronto meant 15 years of Shabbat dinners, each week with at least 15, and four generations attending. Goldie Davis was grateful for everyone and everything that came into her life. In these last years she grew close to Nora and Conie. We all did, and are so grateful for their care and devotion.
At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Avenue West (3 lights west of Dufferin) for service on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with burial in Saint John. Shiva in Toronto. Memorial donations may be made to Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care 416-586-4800, or Saint John Jewish Historical Museum 506-633-1833 or jewishmuseumsj.com
The family will gather at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm to go in procession to Shaarei Zedek Cemetery for a 2:30 pm graveside Service. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
