Obituary of Edna Mildred Hamilton
It is with heavy hearts the family of Edna (Peacock) Hamilton, wife of the late George D. Hamilton, announces her peaceful passing on July 5, 2018 at the Church of St John & St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on April 7, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edith (Willis) Peacock.
Edna graduated from Saint John High School in 1938.She enjoyed life living on the Kingston Peninsula and was a faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church of Kingston. She was a member of the ACW as well as the Kingston Peninsula Heritage Inc. where she received the Escarbot Award for Outstanding Volunteerism for the John Fisher Memorial Museum. She was also a member of the Thistle St. Andrew’s Curling Club. Edna made many friends throughout her life and will be missed by all who knew her.
Edna will be lovingly remembered by her nieces: Ruth Pickle Morris, Jean Hamilton and Marilyn Galbraith (Daryl); nephews: Terence, David, Gregory, Kenneth, Ronald Peacock; great-nephews: Gary and Earnest Hamilton and Richard McAlary; her best friend Alma Currie of ON; as well as many members of her extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Edna was predeceased by her brothers: K. Roy, Frank and Ralph Peacock; and sister, B. Irene Peacock.
Edna’s family wish to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home for the excellent care and love shown to Edna over the years.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424) with visiting on August 7, 2018 from 12PM to 2PM followed immediately by the funeral service at 2PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in Edna’s memory may be made to the Trinity Anglican Church of Kingston or a charity of the donor’s choice. www.brenansfh.com
