Obituary of Samuel Lorenzo McGuire
It is with great sadness that the family of Samuel "Sam" Lorenzo McGuire, loving husband of Mabel McGuire, announce his passing on February 25, 2019 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on April 12, 1943, he was a son of the late Richard and Muriel (Parks) McGuire.
Sam had been a longshoreman for the Port of Saint John and was a proud member of the ILA Local 273. When he wasn’t working for the Port, Sam loved to fish commercially with his father. He was a friend of Bill W. for the last 23 years. Sam retired to Miramichi, NB in 2000 where he was a friendly face in the community and devoted friend to those he met. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Sam is survived by his wife, Mabel; siblings, Barbara Pitt (late first husband, Claire Porter and late second husband, David Pitt) from Saint John, Ronald McGuire (Audrey) from Kitchener, ON, Richard "Dickie" McGuire (Lynn) and David McGuire (Ann) both of Saint John; brother-in-law, Dick Wade; several nieces and nephews; and several step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren
In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Wade.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 10 AM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Sam’s memory can be made to the Miramichi Regional Hospital or Romero House.
