I read with sadness of Dr. Walter's passing only now, in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada's newsletter. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to meet and work with Dr. Walter during my Internal Medicine Residency at Dalhousie University, while rotating through Saint John. I was his resident on many happy occasions, including the move from the old Saint John Regional Hospital, near downtown on the hill, to the "new" campus, where it now exists. I was also the beneficiary of his and his lovely wife, Isabel's invitations to dinner, both at their home in Saint John one more than one occasion, as well as their second home in Cambridge Narrows. I even had the pleasure of cooking dinner for the family once! I helped him carry his historic and antique gun collection when he moved from his old house to his new house in Saint John. He was a wonderful man and mentor for a young resident, now more than 35 years ago! I am blessed to have known him.

On behalf of all of us at the New Brunswick Lung Association and the 1-in-5 New Brunswickers who live with lung disease, I send our sincere condolences to the family of Dr Walter. Dr. Walter was a leader and played a large role in the respiratory health of New Brunswickers. Our current anti-smoking laws and respiratory health best practices relied on his foundational leadership.

Our condolences to the Walters family. Although we didn't know Ed and Isabel well the friends and volunteers of the library wish to send our thoughts. We loved having him come to visit and support the library and tell us stories of the life and times in Cambridge-Narrows.

Heartfelt condolences to the Walter Family. We had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Ed and Isabel, through Mark, at their country home in Cambridge Narrows, and were graciously welcomed! Our girls were thrilled to see and hold baby raccoons that Ed and Isabel were tending to (day and nite). Their Parrot was entertaining as it mimicked Isabels voice to Ed. I had the pleasure of sitting and chatting with Ed. His stories of life and some of his journeys were both interesting and entertaining.
Their kindness to all and generous selfless manner will forever be admired and greatly missed. Thinking of you all, we share in your sorrow.

Sending condolences to remaining family of Ed Walter. Ed was a mentor to me as an Intern in '82-3 just as we transitioned from the "Old general" to the new" Regional.I considered him supremely knowledgeable in all things medical and have never forgotten his calm demeanor. I spoke well of him thru these past near 40 years, then I realize that he obtained his Medical degree only a year after I was born !!. RIP Ed.

My memories of my Grandpa have always been looking up to him. His gentle way with people and animals. I can remember him taking me to the hospital where he worked at the time and I felt like the luckiest girl holding hands with my Grandpa who was a pretty big deal :0) Proud to be the Granddaughter to a man who touched so many hearts and was loved by so many Marie~

To Dr Walter's family,
I could not say it better than his obituary - a "TRUE GENTLEMAN", in all ways. A gentle man. I had the 'pleasure' of working with him both at the Regional and beginning at the General. (Respiratory Therapy)
My sincerest condolences to one and all, may you find peace in knowing, both your mum and dad will be together. I look forward to seeing the video.
Take care,
Walter

It was my honour to join Dr Ed for dinner at Kingsway on Monday and Friday evenings. We sometimes enjoyed desert first and had loud conversations about current events, Cambridge Narrows, stuffed owls, mutual friends and animals we’ve known. Ed always had a sparkling smile for Isabel, the love of his life. When we explained that there was a bad flu in the community so we are wearing masks to protect our residents, Dr Ed paused then proclaimed “isolation is the answer.” Your dad was truly thankful for our care and a warm blanket and a little hug at bed time.We will all miss your dad because he never complained! I prayed a bed would become available for your dad at KW and God answered my prayers. Now I pray for your family to have peace and lots of good memories in the days and years to come. You are all so blessed to have such beautiful parents. Thank you for sharing your parents with us. Please know that I treasure the last kiss photo. Your mom was a doll and she blessed me. Unforgettable dear friends. Sent with love and prayers. Lori Landry.
