My condolences to all our family and friends of Elaine.
Mrs. Paul will truly be missed. She was the best grandmother you could as for. She had a carefree attitude and great sense of humor. I will miss our dinner and movie dates where the food was always just Ok. I enjoyed her blunt reactions to things and her infectious chuckle.
RIP Grandma

Elaine you will always be remembered... You were fashionable, elegant, witty and a true Lady. I remember many chats with you... One more than the rest, was when me and my sister sat on the stairs and you told us some amazingly romantic stories. Lots of love Elaine and I am so sad to have to say goodbye. A bug hug too. May you sing with the angels.

Although we spent much of my life on different continents, in different countries, my grandmother’s touch is laced through my life. From holding her hand at age three as we walked down the dusty streets of Bahrain, I gained an urge to experience the world, especially the Middle East and at twenty five moved to the UAE. From recalling stories about her African Grey, Joey, I developed a deep love of birds, and have one of my own sitting on me as I write this tribute. She showed me how to make the delicious foods of Goa, before I had ever set foot there, and “grandma’s cutlets” are famous. The memories of my grandmother will live on through these and other threads she has woven in my life and and the lives of many others.
My deepest sympathies to all those who feel her loss today. Rest In Peace Grandma.

From Greta (youngest sister in Goa India) and George Monteiro: I think I enjoyed my dear sister Elaine's company the longest, in Bahrain, and they truly were the most unforgettable years of my life there. Will miss her tremendously. She was of great help to secure me a job at the U. S. Embassy, as well as giving me a new lease in life. I truly owe all my happiness to her. She and I shared a lot of secrets and I simply loved her jovial company. She used to write such long letters that were so full of news, that we used to longingly wait to receive them. She had such a great circle of friends and was so popular everywhere she went and was so influential. She always made the time to keep in touch with all of her friends and relatives everywhere. Her cooking, tailoring skills were unbelievable. She was a popular figure in the Goan clubs be it in Daresalaam or Bahrain.
I had the privilege to be her flower girl at her wedding and the many times I tripped on her long veil and how much I cried when she set sail for East Africa to join her husband Robert. Yes she was a remarkable lady, one of a kind. These memories cannot be erased. Will miss you Elaine a lot. Love you lots Greta/George Monteiro.

Condolences to all Elaine’s family and friends.
I was fortunate enough to spend a notable amount of time with Elaine while she resided in Edmonton. I had the opportunity to hear about her interesting past and the many global experiences she had. I was frequently tasked with assisting Elaine with a multitude of small tasks and would sometimes get a call to attend at her apartment to help with such daunting tasks as changing a light bulb, fixing the television remote, or reviewing a letter. I certainly was treated as an absolute expert for handling these onerous tasks.
Elaine would always be thinking about others and would be continually looking for an interesting item to purchase as a gift for me, whether it be from the local mall or any sort of craft sale taking place at St. Andrews Centre.
Elaine would frequently make some of her three favourited dishes: beef rolls, potato chops, and cutlets. Such recipes are hard to replicate, as the quantity of each ingredient was merely “just put a little bit in your hand”. Once in a while, my elder Brother Patrick, would receive a call from Elaine, requesting him to come by her apartment to pick up a small package containing a portion of one of these dishes. She would ask him to give this to James. He would respond by saying what about me? Her frequent response was, you’ll get some next time.
She certainly brought a smile to the face of everyone in the room. She will continue to be a constant reminder of the beauty of a carefree attitude and to not stress about the small things in life.
May she rest in peace.

Condolences to all my aunts and uncles and their families, especially to my cousins Elfrida, Wendy and Heather and their families. My aunt was a vibrant personality, best dressed, best legs and the most incredible host. Many of my growing years was at her and U. Robert’s place in Bahrain and when living in Goa and Dubai. She loved her crosswords, her African gray Joey and I always remember her hair rollers. She is the reason so many stories came to be and I will always remember her for the loving, beautiful lady that she is. May she rest in peace after a long beautiful journey.

Elfrida/Eugene, Wendy, Heather/Lawrie and families,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of your dear mum, Elaine.
She was a wonderful, classy and unique lady and it was always a pleasure to talk to her; I did meet a few years back in Edmonton at the Seniors Residence where she was residing and she introduced me to a lot of the friends. Through our conversation she did recall a lot of details about her life in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania and the numerous friends she and her late husband, Robert had. She talked endlessly about her grandson, James as he was always doing little errands for her. Cherish the memories you have as she would want you to, and know that we are around to comfort you in your time of need. May Elaine's soul Rest In Peace!
