Obituary of Leonor Jesuina Elaine Paul
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Leonor Jesuina Elaine Paul, wife of the late Robert Paul, announces her peaceful passing on August 22, 2020, surrounded by her family. The eldest of seven children, Elaine was born on June 4, 1929, to the late Elpidio and Beatrice (Noronha) Almeida.
Elaine was a friend, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, a colleague and a caring partner. Whatever she meant to each of us she was always full of zest, joyful and endearing to those around her.
At work she was an inspiration, a mentor and a great employee. She spent most of her working career at the US missions in Tanzania and later in Bahrain. She left a lasting impression on all she worked with and is fondly remembered in different parts of the world by former work colleagues. She took enormous pride in her work.
A doting wife, a loving partner, Elaine and Robert traveled the world extensively. Such was her passion to enjoy and learn new cultures and try new things. It goes without saying, Elaine loved her family and lived life to the fullest.
She was always dressed for the occasion, well attired and elegant. She was a great seamstress and would sew new outfits for her three daughters when they were young.
Elaine enjoyed entertaining friends and family and fittingly was an excellent cook and hostess. It was so easy for her to make friends. She was full of laughter and had a great sense of humor.
Elaine was a wonderful writer. Friends and family looked forward to receiving detailed letters as she so eloquently engaged one with her writing.
Sadly, the last few years were increasingly challenging with several age related ailments and mobility limitations.
It is with a heavy heart we bid her adieu. May she enjoy eternal peace. We love you and miss you: Leonor Jesuina Elaine Paul, nee Almeida.
Elaine is lovingly remembered by her children: Elfrida (Eugene) McTague, Wendy (late Harry) Kiddell and Heather (Lawrie) Pattison; grandchildren: Andrea, Patrick, James, Christian and Cameron; great-grandchildren: Kieran and Emmet; brothers Tony (Zulema) Almeida and Fr. Hector Almeida SJ; sisters: Enid (Armand) Rodrigues, and Greta (George) Monteiro; as well as several nieces and nephew.
Besides her husband and parents, Elaine was predeceased by her brothers Jose Almeida and Fr. Leslie Almeida SJ.
