Obituary of Dorothy Elizabeth Murchison
Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth (Dykeman) Murchison of Jemseg, New Brunswick, born April 24th, 1929, at the age of 92, passed peacefully on October 20th, 2021, beside her children Mark and Leah, at Windsor Court Retirement Residence in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Dorothy poured her heart and soul into everything she did—whether it was caring for patients as a nurse or serving up fries at the Crystal Beach canteen, she had an unparalleled desire to give more than she had. Dorothy was devoted to her beach, her family, and the church as an active member of the ACW (Anglican Church Women).
She is survived by her son, Mark Murchison (Tristin Murchison); daughter, Leah Murchison; grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jasmine, Allie, Luke, Jade, Eli, Israel, and Nazareth; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, David Murchison; parents, Stanley and Freda (Ebbett) Dykeman; she was the eldest of 5 siblings, sisters, Louis Dykeman, Jean (Dykeman) Cosman, Shirley “Sis” (Dykeman) Springer; brother, Ronald Dykeman.
The Murchison family would like to extend a heart-felt, and sincere thanks to the staff of Windsor Court Retirement Residence for the compassionate and self-less care. Dave and Dot will be forever grateful.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Donations in Dorothy’s memory are asked to be given to the Saint James Anglican Church in Jemseg, NB. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, funeral service will be by invitation only.
