Obituary of Edna Grace Sharkey
It is with sadness that the family of Edna Grace (Verner) Sharkey, beloved wife of Frederick Sharkey, announces her passing. Born in Saint John on April 17, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Mertice (Hamilton) Verner.
A life-long resident of Saint John, Edna lived selflessly for her community. Edna and Fred were foster parents for 28 years and fostered over 300 children. A favourite pastime of hers was playing Bingo with her friend Natalie.
Edna is survived by her loving husband, Fred, of 62 years; sons, Freddy and Tait; daughter, Margo (Irvine) Eatmon; grandchildren: Scott, Jason, Jillian, Tamara, Joey, Katelyn, Lucas, Miguel, and Tait; great-grandchildren: Gavin, Benjamin, Bailey, Jaxon, Serenity, Liberty, Hunter, Alex, MacKenzie, Lainie, and Greylynn; brother, David; and sisters, Mertice and Gina.
Besides her parents, Edna is predeceased by her grandson, Irvine Eatmon, and several siblings.
