Obituary of Nellie Watson
It is with sadness, but gratitude for having had her in our lives, that the family of Nellie Beatrice Watson, beloved wife of Kenneth Watson, announces her peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Hospital on December 30, 2021. Born in Shannon, NB, on March 31, 1935, she was the daughter of the late James Leslie and Lottie May (Vail) Elms.
A woman of strong faith, Nellie loved reading her bible. She was caring beyond words and cherished time spent with family, especially with her grandchildren. She enjoyed the simple things in life along with time spent on cross word puzzles and her painting. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Nellie will be lovingly remembered by her husband Kenneth of 65 years; children: Gregory (Lorraine) Watson, Kevin (Giselle) Watson, Krista (Michel) Roy, and Donald Watson; grandchildren: Melissa Morton, Gregory Watson Jr., Jennifer Watson, Trevor Watson, Kyle Watson, Christopher Roy, and Nicholas Roy; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild; sister: Carol (Bob) Thibodeau; as well as nieces Kimberly Barnett and Danielle Carson; and nephews John Barnett and Mitch Thibodeau.
Besides her parents, Nellie was predeceased by her sister Anna (John) Barnett; and nephew Jerry Barnett.
The family would like to extend an extra special thank you to all the staff of the 7th floor Long Term Care Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and all those who went above and beyond to make Nellie and her family feel welcome – from the medical and nursing teams, administrative staff, Covid screeners, security, and custodial personnel! Your kindness, caring, and compassion will never be forgotten.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424), a visitation will take place on Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 10 AM – 12 PM immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12 PM in the Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Proof of double vaccination and masks are required to attend. For those who wish, a livestream of Nellie’s service will be available on her online obituary. Interment will be held in Wickham Cemetery. Donations in Nellie’s memory to St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation 7Th Floor Long Term Care Unit or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by family, and online condolences can be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
