Celine,
So sorry to hear of Sister Trish’s passing. A big hug to you from our family. Mom loved Trish dearly as did cousin Martina! They always had a good laugh together and enjoyed their get togethers after all those years. Hope they are enjoying the same now.
With deepest sympathy

Our Sister Pat Riley was a light in the wide field of God's love for many!...from roots in Johnville to the other end of Canada!
To you, Celine, and all members of the clan, we hold you in our hearts. I'll always treasure her 100th Birthday as you all gathered at Ruth Ross to celebrate her!! She is with you always in new ways...count on it!

To Celine: My association with Sister Pat was not as one of her students; rather I met Sr. Pat at St. Vincent's Convent when it was the Motherhouse on Cliff St. Whenever I had something to ask for (usually perpetual Mass Cards from the Don Bosco Society) it wasn't uncommon for me to see Sr. Pat at the Reception Desk filling in for someone or when I attended Mass at the Chapel when the late Msgr, Martin was the celebrant of the Mass. On occasion when Msgr, Martin was giving his homily at the Mass, there were times when he would get a little "long in the tooth." I can recall Sr, Pat gently teasing him saying, "It was a long one today, Monsignor."
I was aware of Sr, Pat's Pastoral Care, but I never got to see her in action. No doubt Sr. Pat was a blessing to all with whom she came in contact.
I also have fond memories of her inviting me into the convent with Msgr, Martin after Mass was finished for morning tea, something which I thought was prohibited for an "outsider" and on occasion on Saturday at the noon meal when Mass was finished. She had such a pleasant manner about her that she was able to put one at ease immediately - one of her endearing charisms to everyone.
Well done good and faithful servant. May you rest in peace.

Sister Norah and I share Johnville roots. The Riley family farm was adjacent to that of my paternal grandparents. She and my father grew up together , and even before I knew her myself, I heard stories of what a lovely person she was.
My personal acquaintance with her only confirmed that reputation. She and my parents occasionally shared meals and stories, tears and laughter, at our home, while I kept to the background - because she was also my teacher (junior high at St. Dunstan’s School).
It was here where I more personally experienced, her kindness, patience and quiet sense of humour. She was always smiling, and rarely raised her voice, commanding respect by her sincerity. . She was one of the teachers I remember most clearly - and always with a smile. As I came to know her on an adult level, I saw how much she was at peace with her place in the world, and how humble and genuinely spiritual she was. My father called her “the gentlest of people” . She was indeed.

Her smile speaks to how Sr. Pat lived her vocation as an S.C.I.C. She was a geuine, wise woman who joyfully gave to many young women under her direction as Novice Mistress for her community. Well done, good and faithful service. With gratitude we send you to your eternal peace.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Sister. I met her during my years at the School of Nursing. She was a blessing to many of our students at that time. She was kind, gentle, happy and spiritual but most of all a truly genuine good woman. Rest in peace, Sister.

To the SCIC, I was sadden to hear the passing of yet another your community. Your community is shrinking. But now onto Sister Pat whenever I attended Evening Prayer we would exchange hugs as she always love receiving and giving hugs. Now that Sister Pat is gone she has gone to join her family members who went before her and leaves one family left her sister. Sister Pat probably held many hands in her life UT now we. must hold onto her memories in our hearts Rest Easy Sister Pat until we meet again
