Jack was a wonderful man and an amazing veterinarian. I grew up on Grand Manan island and he came there to practice in my aunts basement. He was so kind to me and taught me so many things. He even let me help him with the animals from time to time. He left a big impression on my heart. My sincerest condolences to the entire family, his death will leave a very big hole in the world.

We will always remember Jack's fun loving spirit at our dances. He always had a mischievous twinkle in his eye and enjoyed dancing to the beat of his own drummer, not necessarily a stickler for the following the ' proper' ballroom steps. So much fun.

Dear Brenda, John and family. We were so deeply saddened to hear of Jack’s passing. I was fortunate to be able to work along side him for 14 plus years in surgery. He taught me that hard work always paid off and because of him he was able to pass these values on to me. I’ll always have fond memories of him, from our many trips to Grand Manan, to him taking Jerry under his wings, completely outfitting him and teaching him to ski. Jack had such a love for life and had no problems sharing it with others. He’ll always have a place in my heart.
Sincerely
Debbie and Jerry Daley

So sorry to learn of Jack's passing, Brenda. It was always uplifting to meet him, whick Dawn and I had the pleasure on many occasions. One memorable one was in Vail, while you were off skiing "the steeps", Jack found me on the hill of around five thousand others skiers, skied up in front of me and said "Helloooo, Freddie"! We laughed about that many times in the yeasrs since, and he would always greet me the same way (with his infectious laugh, of course!).
Affectionately, Dawn and Fred Shillington

Heartfelt condolences to all the family.
Whether it was at the Kingston Market on Saturdays, the ski hill when there was snow, or in the clinic for the special visits to the best vet, Harry and Liz McInerney had many wonderful moments with Dr. Waite. Everybody's furry friend was surely Jack's favourite. Harry has recently caught up to Beau Brommel on the long walk to doggy heaven and will be delighted to have Jack pull up a seat and have a good story and chuckle together. We here will always remember wonderful moments, gentle competent care and that mischievous smile.

The world is a little less bright now with the passing of Jack. The memories I have ,of this good man are fast. I will relay just three>
First: 34 years have I known "Jackson". It was an awkward first meeting on the golf course for me but because "Jackson" was the smiling, take things as they come and see the best/good in who he met, our friendship was sewn then. Thus from that time on
when I greeted Jack, I called out "Jackson" he always replied "Ali" how are you." Our greeting each other was a term of endearment. So please forgive me Brenda for using "Jackson" Second: he would ask how my son was even to the present day. Colin is 28.
Jack would recall me bring Colin to the course for "little Swingers" Colin wa just 5 then. Third: He had met my wife Sharon only once or twice, always
he would ask me>
" how is that pretty little gale of yours you take good care of her".
Brenda a very gracious, kind person has left us but past memories and good times, will help ease the sorrow a little. Brenda, may God bless you and the family. My prays are with you.

Brenda and all of Jack's Family and Friends,
So sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Jack was such a fantastic and interesting person. He really helped to foster in me, an early interest in animals and wildlife. I loved spending time at the clinic, meeting the odd Gulls that came in, and even getting to watch an emergency C-section on a dog when I was a child. Whether it was scaring me with ghost stories when I was young or spending a bit of time poking through the City Archives, Martello Tower, or tossing a line in at the camp and subsequently reeling Wayne and his sweater in; like many people, our lives have been enriched in some part by knowing Jack.
I hope you all have many wonderful memories and can find some solace in sharing them with each other. Jack's was a life well lived - he made every racing trip around the solar system count and we will remember him fondly. Sheri Hodgson and Wayne Rowse

My earliest childhood memory of ‘Uncle John’, my mother’s youngest brother, was his love of fun, animals, and us kids. I remember he was a young, joyous, and very handsome university student then.
When I stayed for summer holiday with my grandparents at Echolands, I was a little girl. I recall him singing Pat Boone’s hit ‘Love Letters in the Sand’ in his rich baritone voice as he got ready to go to a dance in St. George. Everyone looked forward to fun when he came home from Guelph, then. I adored him as a kid.
As years passed my view of life and others widened. Though he lived in New Brunswick and we saw less of each other, I came to realize Uncle John was still all I remembered in life, and more… fearless, bold, venturesome, with a continued love for family and friends, his Ontario origins, and then there was his great love for his wife Brenda.
I feel gratitude for the happiness Uncle John contributed to my life, I feel pride in his achievements in life, and I am inspired by him, for he was fulfilled by loving others, and living with joy.
Attached are photos of his siblings Priscilla, Joan, and Jim, and him on one of his visits home.

Mu children and I met Dr Wait, in the early 70s when we had to rush our pet dog Lady to him as she had found some kind of poison and had eaten some. He saved her and from that day, he was thr best Vet. in the world as far as we were all concerned and saw us through our successive pets through the years. We have many memories of panic calls to him for those pets.
Having known Brenda as out dentist, we were delighted when they married and I saw them at many social events. They were so happy and such a vital couple with their skiing , golf , travel and love of the outdoors.
My deepest condolences to Brenda and to John and family. His bigger than life presence will stay with all of you. Hold onto the memories.

A truly wonderful person with the most positive, friendly outlook I have ever encountered. I remember when he left our table after golfing one day to head home, one of those seated said "A man like that should never die". So true. Had a great golfing trip to the Carolinas with Jack back in the early '80's - - - I had a group of 16 I used to go with from Toronto and one pulled out at the last minute. I was having dinner with Jack and Brenda and told him and he said "I'll go" - - and we had to leave the next morning!!!
My sincere condolences to Brenda and his family. Our lives have been enriched by his presence.

Brenda, John & Family, please accept my deepest condolences.
Jack & Brenda’s cottage was next to our home overlooking the bay. The property sold years ago but many in our area still (and, likely forever will) refer to it as “Jacks” or “The Doctors”. My grandchildren to name a few; they loved to go to Jacks. They always thought very highly of Jack & he gave us free rein of his swimming pool! He was always so welcoming and happy to answer a question about the care of our dogs over the years. Through the Winter months when he’d be out to check on the place, he’s always stop in to say hello. Jack was a kind man, always filled with enthusiasm to hear about how the old tractor was running or what new thing I had jimmy rigged up now. He & Brenda were fantastic neighbours and were missed after they left the Creek.
Rest in peace Jack. May heaven have dogs, farms, fishing & golf.
