I was very blessed to be able to visit Great Aunt Grace in St. John in August 2019, after not seeing her for several years. She was as bubbly, sweet and kind as ever, singing praise while she coloured in some of the books sent by our family. She was deeply loved and she will be missed.

I Just Attended the Grave Site Service of My Gr. 3 Teacher in St. John NB, Through the Magic of Technology. I've Been Swapping Memories With a Chum from Those Long Ago Days School Days.
Sister Cabrini Finished Off Each School Day with A Cliff Hanger of a Story and Frequently Had Us Grouped Around the Piano as We Prepped for Yet Another Music Festival Win. I Remember Seeing Her Sliding Down the Steep Hill at the Rear of Our School in Full Habit, on a Piece of Cardboard. She was a Character.
She Would Have Been 32 When I Knew Her and Full of Zip.
May She Find the Joy in the Lord that She So Devotedly Believed In.

To my dear Aunt Grace - you leave behind a lifetime of the most cherished memories and a long list of teachings. As a child, you taught me to tap dance, to raise my legs up after we would go jogging, the importance of connecting to nature and to always make time for hot fudge sundaes. But the teaching that changed my world the most was this: to find the light in everyone you meet and then cherish them. Your unending love and patience for people in this life is your legacy. You will always have a big place in my heart. Love you, Sheila

My husband and I are out of town but we’re able to virtually attend Sister Grace’s beautiful service. A cardinal was singing the entire time. I had the honor of meeting and caring for Sister Grace in recent years and was inspired each day by her smile, Her sense of humor and devotional spirituality will stay with us forever. Rest In Peace, Sister Grace! Elizabeth & Michael Moreau

My dear Aunt Grace blessed her nieces and nephews with her infectious laugh, big smile and a twinkle in her eye. And then there were the stories - humorous, adventurous, thoughtful and always generous. Sure she exaggerated some details, but never strayed to far from the truth! My father, Ron McSheffrey, wasn't the most open man in the world, but Aunt Grace took some delight at poking through his somewhat taciturn veneer to share funny, poignant but always kind memories of her brother's past. My memories of Dad reunited with his sisters Grace and Theresa are rare and treasured by me. Aunt Grace - your spirit and soul will shine brightly forever. Love Always, Robert.

I was a pupil of Sr.Cabrini ,as she was then known in 1961 in Grade 3 at St.Josepjh's Elementary School in Saint John.Everyone loved her as did I.She was a lively ,vital person with wells of energy.A supremely gifted early childhood educator, she would have a storytelling near the end of the day's lessons and would produce a " ciffhanger" which would continue the next day.A brilliant idea. this would encourage the young charges under her care to enthusiastically attend for the next exciting episode. She was a wise and observant teacher ,who would note to the class behaviour among the pupils from which moral lessons could be learned. Not all educators would join the dots in this way but it dmonstrated how much she fathomed the mind of a child. This takes great intelligence and communication skills which were her forté.As I mentioned before she was so beloved by her young charges and was a source of inspiration from all of those she met, including myself.More than 60 years later, I still remember her vividly.

My sincere condolences to Sister Grace’s sister Theresa, The Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception and all those whom Sister Grace held dear to her heart. I first met Sister Grace in the mid 80’s at a retreat being held at Saint Mark’s Church in Quispamsis. The theme for the retreat was “Healing the Child Within”, I remember the tears that flowed as she encouraged each of us to embrace the wounded child within and the smiles that followed as we held each other and began a new journey ...... a journey of healing. The Retreat ended with the song THE WIND BENEATH OUR WINGS.
So now Sister Grace we lift our voices....
Fly high, Fly high against the sky
Thank you, Thank you “Sister Grace”
Thank God for you “Grace”
The wind beneath our wings
Love ❤️ Ellen Robart. (scic associate)

I want to begin with Sisters of Charity : I am sadden to hear yet another of your community has left as another angel as God needed another. My first encounter with Sr. Grace McSheffrey when she was doing her ministry in Healing of Memories she would ask all in attendance just let your pen flow and if need tears allow them to flow and don't allow them to stop these are your memories and no one is to prevent the person their feelings. It was a weekend retreat and I think this was first time I allowed my thoughts come alive thanks to Sr. McSheffrey but I still couldn't take home what I was working on so she suggested that I burn the journal she provided us the participants.. She was willing to help me out with as I was stuck. She was a great listener and a great teacher. Than I lost contact with Sr. McSheffrey until 2010 when I became an Associate and I would go to the Evening Prayer at the old St. Vincent Residence than eventually up at Ruth Ross Residence. She always greeted me with huge hug and welcome me back from years of Healing of Memories. I am sure that as we speak she probably telling many stories and like it said she loved share stories. To your remaining sibling I wish I could give you a hug and you were lucky to have a great sister who shared her talents. Rest in Peace Sr. Grace until we meet again. Jannette Jarvis (Associate)

Sister Cabrini was an exceptional person who brought joy and love to every pupil lucky enough to be under her influence, She told wonderous tales that always had a moral or an ethic to take as one's own.. Years later, after a 40th class reunion, I drove Sister Mulholland to Villa Madonna and across the kitchen was my beloved nun. I said, "Sister Cabrini" and she acknowledge me, "Janette Bradley". The years between just melted and I was in Grade 3 again. Hail to a wonderful person and may she rest with the angels.
