Ryan and family,
I recently saw the news online and I was saddened to read about Wayne’s passing. I have fond memories of being in your basement in Colby and Wayne grabbing Mike Cameron’s arms and making him say Unkie Wayne or of driving in the Moose 1. I also remember his love of music, from the Roy Orbison picture on the wall in the basement (I think it was a mounted magazine cover) and him taking a few of us to a concert at the beach in NB ( forget the name).
I am very sorry for your loss.

So sad to read Wayne’s obit. He was a great man who always had time for a story or two of Saint John sporting days. Wayne sponsored my basketball team for a few years when I played MELBA in Halifax in the ‘80’s!
I remember him in our living room , while I was growing up on Argyle St in Lancaster. He would be visiting my Dad or my brothers.
He was such a great guy. Bless his family who he leaves behind. Keep all the good memories close to your heart.
There are many open arms receiving him in heaven.
Sincerely,
Mary Sullivan Surette

Ryan & Family,
We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mr. McLellan. He was a great man who could light up a room with his presence alone, and that is a rare quality in today’s society. We know this has come as a major surprise for all of you, and although he is no longer with you in person, we know he will remain with all of you forever.
Over the next couple days, please take the time to hug each other, and certainly reminisce on the great memories you all share.
P.S. Should you need anything don’t hesitate to reach out.
Yours truly,
The CPC Family.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with you over the passing of your Dad. Not only was Wayne a colleague but a true friend in our days together at Moosehead. Your home in Cole Harbour was such a welcoming spot and your parents were so gracious to both Erin and I during those years, the memories will always be with us. Having been able to watch both of you grow in your early years and to hear where you are today brings a smile to our faces. Your Dad was one of the best and we be missed by many.

Wayne always had mischief in his smile and generosity in his heart. I loved to watch Pat and Wayne banter back and forth - like a cat with a mouse (you guess which was the cat - a very kind cat - LOL). We had much fun in Florida together Fred Alice Cindy Wayne Pat and I - they are fond fun memories, The Outrigger, the pontoon boat, Charlies Boat House, hours of stories and laughter. And great memories boating swimming and enjoying the Saint John river and your cottage! Wayne you will be much missed; A kinder man nowhere and we will carry those memories in our heart always. Until we meet again - Love and hugs and a mischievous twinkle. Roxie and PattieXOX

Cindy and family, Nicolle and Chris and family, Ryan and Moire and family, Kailen,Allan & Marjorie, Kevin, Ron and Barb Hutton on behalf of Debbie and me and our families we join with you in the loss we feel at Wayne's unexpected passing. We are so sorry for your loss. I am not sure if the live streaming was referring to “Wayne’s Service” but if it is I will try to attend from Nevada. I am sorry I cannot be with you for this celebration of his life.
Wayne certainly was a practical joker. You knew something was up when he was very serious and then would break out in that smile and echoing laugh! Hard to believe that he has been part of my memory since I was 10 years old or less. I think my earliest memory was in the late 60's of his purple convertible MG (I think) driving to our house. As a kid he'd leave me photo's of movie stars he'd have from his work at Fundy Cable. I wish I would have kept them! I also recall going with my sister Nancy to St Stephen or somewhere in the Dodge Dart to watch Wayne referee. Now, over 50 years later he leaves behind a legacy of friends and family and countless stories for us to recall and tell and probably many not to tell! I'd be honored to make a donation in his memory. Much love to you all.

This news of Wayne's passing has perhaps been one of the most shocking death announcements I have ever experienced. I still cannot find the words to describe how much Wayne influenced my life, but I will try.
While in junior high in 1967, I was a member of the local youth centre at Lancaster Rink for three years. The youth leader, Wayne MacLellan, was the staff person and one of my earliest mentors. He placed a lot of trust and responsibility in me. As a 13-year-old, I held the keys to the entire property, including the indoor rink. I needed those keys as I was tasked with helping clean, scrub, and wax the youth centre’s floor and prepare it for opening at 7:00 PM on Friday and 1:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday. I would be there an hour before it opened for those two years and not leave until it closed at 10:00 PM and cleaned up. I never wanted my mom to see me scrub and wax the floors and was pleased that she never visited the centre to see, at times, me on my hands and knees.
It gave me great pride that Wayne had such confidence in me, and his trust and confidence generated high personal self-esteem at my age and would be the cornerstone of my confidence in myself and those who wanted to help me succeed in life. Wayne did that. I believe that such recognition of a youth’s initiative could help a lot of our youth today as Wayne instilled in me in my early teens. His faith in me empowered me to take on more responsibility and commitment in the youth community in my future.
I believe his guidance and friendship had a lot to do with inspiring my leadership role that of many others in various youth service programs in the future. Thanks Wayne!
My sincere condolences to family and all his many close friends. If there are others who would want to develop a longer lasting and visual tribute to this dear friend and community leader, please do not hesitate to contact me at tony@tonyhebert.com
