Deepest condolences to Darren and family. I remember with great fondness my time at Saint Malachy's Memorial High School when Brian was principal. "We are serious about an education" was something was repeated enough that I still remember it 30 years later- his impact on students was felt throughout the education system during his tenure.
In sincerest sympathy,

I am so sorry for your loss. I was a student at St. Joseph's when Mr. McCarthy was the Principal. I have very fond memories of him. He was so fair and kind. I still remember his words of encouragement to us kids in grade 8 and 9. He always said that we should 'be all that you can be' and he would tell us stories of kids living in tough situations who kept doing their school work and that that was their way out and to the top. I've never forgotten his words (and its been a very long time since then). He inspired me very much and I'm so very thankful for his guidance and influence at that time. I'm sure that he inspired many other kids too!
Sending caring thoughts to you at this difficult time.

I was saddened to learn of your dear brother, husband ,fathers death.I had known Brain most of my life as he was a “north ender” as was I.Brian was a devoted family man and a dedicated educator. No one will ever know the true depths of Brian’s relationship ship to his students and how he mentored so many to become great citizens and helped so many students through many trials and
helping them to be their best.
Brian’s loved of the Lord was expressed in his devotion to mass and as a true believer in his Catholic faith.Brian I am sure is in the arms of the Lord where there is no more pain or suffering. The world is a better place because Brian McCarthy lived.

Mr. McCarthy was a principal at St. Joseph school when attend there in the 80s. My mother and I lived on Germian Street next to him when I was a little girl and he walked many children to school across King Square and I was one of them. He always went an extra mile to make sure we as once children were safe, and warm. He loved children and was always kind to me. He was one of my favorite teachers along with Miss. April Mills.
My condolences to the McCarthy family. He was a wonderful man and will sadly be missed.

David and I are very sad to learn of Brian’s passing. He was a wonderful teacher and educator in my early years at St Joseph’s school and at St Malachy’s. As a young married couple we moved into 40 Duke, only to find we had wonderful neighbours who quickly became good friends. We remember many late afternoons sharing our love for the sun and discussing travel with both Brian and Barb. We will treasure those memories. Sending our heartfelt condolences, love and prayers to Barb and to the entire family.
