I have so many fond memories of the gatherings involving "THE FIVE SISTERS" and all the aunts, uncles and cousins. I recall family parties in Flushing at the Coddington house as well as at the Wildler abode in Hempstead and of course College Point and New Rochelle with the Schneider and Mehnert's hosting. Blair, Frankie and I were the youngest of our generation and I can recall that the older kids would usually include us unless we became too annoying. At one event in New Rochelle, I remember all of us swimming which obviously was the highlight of the day. For some reason, we did not go out in a Blue Pennant sailboat with Uncle Frank although I remember Frankie being our spokesperson.
Maybe the three of us were too young to go. I also recollect playing in his boat yard in College Point. In my youth in the 1950's, those boats seemed enormous. Wonder what they would seem like now? The food was always good except the one time I had to eat ham which at 7 I did not care for. Speckugens ( no idea of the spelling) were my favorite . I am sure that my cardiologist today would not approve of those bacon filled biscuits. Pictures and happenings are always the memories of the future I am blessed to have so many memories. Alice will always be part them.

I first met Alice when her son Nico attended Rothesay Kindergarten. Over the years I would usually meet her at various places when we were both out shopping and we would always pass the time of day. I was truly saddened to learn of her passing and offer my sincere condolences to Nico and family.

Alice’s passing into God’s arms brings so many happy memories. Alice’s mom, my “Aunt Elea”, was the youngest of five Dilbeck sisters – each pace setters in their own way. Though Alice was my mother’s first cousin, she and I were of the same generation. Whenever the extended family gathered, there were many cousins, fun and lots of food.
Despite our distance, Alice and I chatted now and again. She told me how proud she was of Nico and how much she adored Chloe.
I’m praying that you celebrate with joy the wonderful life of Alice, a sweet girl, beautiful and talented young woman and lovely bride of her oh-so-handsome Gus.

Being the president of Applewood Park Association, where Alice was a resident for these past many years, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Nico and Chloe on behalf of her neighbours and friends on Cortland Place. She will be remembered for her many walks by our homes and stopping to chat. She always had many interesting stories to tell. Over the years, I had come to know Alice quite well through phone calls and visits to her home. It was a shock to learn she had passed away in such a short time. So many said, “ I just saw her walking the other day”. She will be greatly missed. Jan Hardy

Alice was truely like a mother to me, and like any good mother, knew all of my embarrassing childhood stories. She delighted in telling them, and I always got a kick out of her laughing at them, and later, the silly stories I'd tell her of my own children.
I was so glad that I was able to introduce my children to her a few years back and show her that she has 4 more "honorary grandchildren".
Almost every photo taken of me as a child was done by her. She was a loving, caring person. I've had her family phone number memorized for 44 years. It's tragic that I'll never have occasion to dial it again...
I be wish I could be there in person for Nico and the family..
I'm going to miss you, "mom".

Alice was a wonderful, open-minded and very respectful person. We often talked when she was on her almost daily walk to
the market. She loved to reminisce about her family's origin in Eastern Europe. She was always very interesting to speak to.
My sincere condolences to her son and family.
A "neighoour".
