We are extending sincere sympathy to Helen’s family at this sad and difficult time. We were sorry to learn of her passing and are sorry for your loss. We have fond memories of enjoying her fine food at Beatty & the Bistro while visiting with her and, on occasion, she would even join us afterwards for a production at the Imperial Theatre. There was one time when she was in such a rush to join us at our seats that she arrived having forgotten to remove her apron. We are all had good laugh at that. We appreciated her sense of humour. She will be missed.

Judy we are all so sorry to hear of Helen’s death. She was wonderful. Bev Bate and I ate at her restaurant every Friday at lunch along with a rotating roster of friends. Of course Bill Coffey was there holding court on Fridays and Mary would often join him. Helen was a gifted cook. Soups, salads, pastries, mains… all delish! Her Lemon Chess and Buterscotch pies were the best!! Helen gave Lydia her start in the hospitality biz working at the restaurant. Lydia claimed she did not like lentils…”yes you do!” declared Helen as she served her a plate. That was Helen!! Turned out she loved lentils. I am sorry I lost track of Helen after she retired. I never go by the corner of Charlotte and King Sq S without thinking of Helen and all the wonderful times we had with her. She was a gem. Dear Judy, Daryl and I send our condolences on Helen's passing. It is was a shock to see her obituary! We have a special memory of one evening at Beatty and the Bistro. We had just finished our meal and were the last ones there. Helen dimmed the lights, locked the door and brought out a bottle of her favourite wine. It was a lovely ending to our day. My heartfelt sympathy to Helen’s family. My Grandmother, my Mum and I enjoyed many delicious meals with Helen at Beatty & the Bistro. We not only enjoyed our meals, but also our many chats over the years. I also remember listening to Helen on a local, weekly radio program, where she would discuss different foods. Elizabeth and I were saddened to learn of Helen's passing and extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to her family for their loss. Spent many a time at Beatty and the Bistro with long chats with Helen and one of her regulars (Bill Coffey) and occasionally with her Mom. She knew I loved desserts, and would always ensure a specialty was ready for me. I miss those wonderful times and lost track of Helen when she closed the restaurant. So sorry to hear of Helen's passing. I worked with Helen at the Blood Services Administration Office. She was a smart lady and definitely a great cook. We certainly enjoyed her treats. Enjoy your special memories of her and may they help you through your grief.
