Dear Mark and Renee,
It was only when I was searching my Inbox today that I found out that Lloyd passed away on the day I flew to France last fall.
Although I knew your Dad and Mum from Riverside C.C. and golfed with them from time to time, I really gained insight and appreciation for them when I worked with Lloyd on the Saint John Jewish Film Festival (what a treat!), and later visited them at their home in Boca Raton for lunch. I was in heaven with the New York Times set against a backdrop of Francine’s favourite colour – orange!
I wish you nothing but the fondest of memories…
Sincerely, Pauline Cronin, Rothesay, NB

My very sincere condolences to the Goldsmith family, Mark and Renee in particular. I have fond memories as a young kid of your father, who was always so kind, welcoming and funny. He made you welcome no matter where you met him. He certainly was a man who made a difference in this world - a fine example to all.

To the Goldsmith Family:
Your parents were best friends with mine (Sylvia and Sam Silver). Growing up in Saint John, I remember your Dad and the words, "gentleman, witty, funny and kind" come to mind. I remember at the last Saint John reunion how great he was as the MC and I never knew that he had a background as a comedian. He made an outstanding contribution to Jewish life in Saint John over many years and for this he will be well remembered. May his memory be for a blessing.

Lloyd interviewed me for a job in the Men's Wear Dept. In 1968 and stayed until we turned the lights out in 1992. A lot of wonderful memories of retailing that can never be repeated again. Quality and Intergity that is hard to find today in one place. Now that he has left us it feels like Calp's Department store has closed its door for the last time. Can you imagine the Reunion of Abe Calp, Lionel Farrell and Lloyd now happening....Wow!

Lloyd Goldsmith was greatly admired by many who worked with him to promote the Jewish Historical Museum. He had many natural leadership qualities. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. It was a pleasure to have worked with him.
Beyond discussing museum issues with Lloyd I very much enjoyed talking with him about growing up in NYC as he was from Brooklyn and I had grown up in the Bronx.
May his memory be a blessing.

Dear Renee and Mark,
We are so sorry for your loss. We loved your dad. He was such a great guy and always had the best sense of humor. I remember when Eli and I attended his 80th birthday party here in Boca Raton. I usually saw him once a year, at least, when your mother was alive, because she would have my mother and I over for lunch at the club and he would stop by and say hello. We miss your mom, too.
Our deepest condolences to you and your families during this difficult time. May his memories be a blessing.
Sending love and hugs,
Amy (Hochberger) and Eli Givoni

My wife and I extend sympathies and condolences to the family of a wonderful man. I had the pleasure of knowing Lloyd through the Saint John Board of Trade. When I was President of Festival by the Sea, he served on the Board for a number of years, always providing us with excellent advice when we entered into the area of merchandising. He was always a true gentleman and a gentle man. Calm, cool, and collected. Highly respected. As you reflect on his life, please know that he made a positive and lasting contribution to his faith, his family, and his community.
Most sincerely,
Bernie & Elizabeth
