Obituary of Robena Colleen Maxwell
On Thursday, November 3, 2022, Robena Colleen Maxwell, loving partner of 30 years to Basil Wellwood, passed away at age 73. She died after a short but courageous fight with cancer while Basil and her step daughter, Nikki, were at her side.
Robena loved her family and could often be found playing with one of her grandchildren, or visiting with different members of her family. She was Mother to Heather, Jeremy, and Julie; Step-mother to Nikki; step-grandmother to Sophie, Jaden, Ella, and Torie; and Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Robena loved to be in her yard, feeding the birds and squirrels and tending to her garden. She loved her flowers.
On summer Saturdays, Robena could be found driving around Saint John with her son Jeremy looking for good deals at yard sales. She always seemed to come home with the perfect little treasure. On Sunday mornings you could usually find her at Hillcrest Baptist Church worshipping her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Robena had lots of friends, many of whom she worked with at Superstore where she worked for over twenty-five years.
Robena was pre-deceased by her father Charles Maxwell, Mother Alice (Buck), brothers Elwood (Marlene) and Stewart (Dorothy), Sister-In-Law Patricia and niece Diane.
She is survived by her loving partner Basil Wellwood, daughters Heather and Julie, son Jeremy, Step daughter Nikki (Andrew), Step Son Miles, grandchildren Sophie, Jaden, Ella, and Tori, sister Davene (Bill) and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to publicly thank the doctors and nurses on the palliative care unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their warm and excellent care. They made sure that Robena’s last days were as comfortable and happy as possible. Thank You.
Robena has been entrusted into the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) where she will remain until her funeral on Wednesday, November 9th at 1 pm. Service with a reception to follow is to be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church at 476 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB.
