I had the privilege and fond memories of working as a student and nurse when Sister Lois was in charge On 6th floor at Saint Joseph,s Hospital. She was gentle and kind to students, staff, and patients. She always had a smile and twinkle in her eye and we would marvel at how fast she could walk down the corridor literally with her veil floating out straight behind her. If she saw my mother sitting out side her apartment building she would make a point to cross the street and have a chat with her. Her caring nature and obvious joy in life will be sadly missed. I didn’t know Sister Katherine on a personal level but I remember her well. I was having surgery several years ago and Sister came to visit patients waiting to go to the OR. I was nervous, to say the least! She came up to my bed and with the most gentle, calming voice asked me about my surgery and offered to pray with me. I have never felt, from this day forward, being so peaceful upon entering the surgical suite. I have had several surgeries since at the Regional Hospital and had always hoped I would see Sister Katherine, but soon realized that St. Joseph’s was the hospital lucky enough to have her. I was so grateful for her that day. I’m still grateful! Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of your loved one. I have no doubt she will feel right at “home”when she Will be among the angels. God Bless you Sister!

To Sister Katherine siblings & congestion community like you all I was saddened to hear of Sister Katherine s passing. She held probably alot of hands during her times while working in the hospital settings. Now we all have to hold her memories in our hearts until we meet again..
