Frances Hatt

Obituary of Frances Margaret Hatt

It is with an appreciation for a life well lived that the family of Frances Hatt of Saint John, beloved wife of the late Richard Hatt, announce her passing which occurred on Monday, December 11, 2023, at Shannex Tucker Hall.  Born on May 31, 1942, in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Harold McBurney and Dorothy (Handren) McBurney.

Frances and Richard both deeply enjoyed giving back to their community and spent numerous hours volunteering with various organizations. She spent many years volunteering at the Special Olympics along side her husband and with the Girl Guides of Canada which led to many new and exciting opportunities. One of those being The Duke of Edinburgh Award’s (DEA), where she was able to volunteer her extra time to helping young people learn and grow through voluntary service, skill development, physical recreation and adventurous journey.

When Frances wasn’t spending her time volunteering, she could be found mastering one of her many crafts or in her back yard feeding anything and everything, especially the chipmunks and birds.

Frances will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Karen Hatt and Krista Hatt (Robert Davis) all of Saint John; adored granddaughters, Lauren and Nicole Davis; foster daughter, Teena Coffey (Lloyd Green) of Grand Manan and her sons, Curtis and Jordan; along with several cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard Hatt.

Interment will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Girl Guides of Canada or the New Brunswick SPCA. www.BrenansFH.com
