Obituary of Suzanne Lynn Roberts

Suzanne Roberts passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2024, surrounded by family.  She is survived by her loving partner Tom Inkpen and daughter Sophie Inkpen, her parents Charlie (Dawn McKay) and Stella, siblings John (Wanda Pepper), Mark (Tara Roberts), Scott (Andrea DeYoung) and Stephanie (Dave O’Connor), and many nieces and nephews.

Suzanne was born on September 15, 1962 in St. John’s Newfoundland.  She lived an amazing life and was an inspiration and role model to her family, friends and co-workers.

Suzanne loved sports and the outdoors.  She was very active in soccer, dance (tap and jazz) and violin in her youth.  She was an avid kayaker, hiker, and cross country skier.  But it was swimming she loved the most.  She completed her first polar dip in January 2024. 

Suzanne loved adventure and travelled the world extensively as a young woman and then together with Tom and Sophie (including extended stays or locums in New Zealand, Winnipeg, Yellowknife, Iqaluit, Vancouver and Sechelt, British Columbia, France, the Netherlands and Montreal).

Suzanne completed an honours degree in Chemistry (Dalhousie, 1984, Gold medal winner), medicine (Queens, 1998) and a Masters in Community Health and Epidemiology (Dalhousie, 2006).  Suzanne was a passionate doctor, caring deeply for her patients and co-workers.  She was very active in medical teaching.  She loved working in obstetrics and was a strong advocate for women’s health. 

Her family would like to thank her many co-workers and friends who provided loving care for Suzanne and support for her and her family during the last month.

A funeral will be held at Portland United Church at 1:00 on April 6 in Saint John with a reception to follow at the church.
