I just found out that Kevin passed last May. I send my sincere condolences to all of his family. I adored being a small part of the Thorne family for the two years that Kevin and I were a couple. It was a lovely time in my life sailing, water skiing, snowmobiling, etc. I especially remember with fondness the surprise picnics and many adventures. May you sail away with no pain knowing that many people loved you. Marthanne Harvey-Veno ( MARDIE)

Dear Barbara, Valerie, & Family,
Elizabeth and I were saddened to learn about Kevin’s passing and send our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to you for your loss. I had the pleasure of sitting next to Kevin at a recent fundraising dinner for Stone Church, and noticed his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award lapel pin. Both Elizabeth and I are also Gold holders, so recognizing his award was all it took to begin a great conversation. That one by-chance meeting made a positive impact on me, because he was so open to share his health challenges, his experience as Mayor, and his award efforts. A terrific person. Our caring thoughts and prayers are with you all as you reflect on his life and many contributions.
Most sincerely,
Bernie & Elizabeth

I was saddened to hear of Kevin’s recent passing. I met him when I was a young girl exploring Fort Howe blockhouse. He was a dashing young man in a colonial uniform working as a guard and had a twinkle in his eye. Later on, he was my sister’s neighbour for several years and showed his kindness through thoughtful gestures when her husband passed away. Condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

My condolences to all of Kevin’s family. I had the honour and privilege of knowing Kevin during middle school and Boy Scout days. I remember him taking me out for a weekend trip with Jamie on the sailboat up the Saint John River, it was the first and only time I have ever had the opportunity to be in a sail boat. My prayers go out to all of the family.

My heartfelt condolences to Barb, Lindsay,Jamie,Natalie , Jody,Matt,Chelsea, Charles and their families. Kevin was an incredible person with boundless energy, a joyful spirit, excellent cooking skills , gifted sailor and accomplished carpenter just to name a few of his gifts. The quality that impressed me the most though was his total dedication to his family and Barb. They were blessed to be loved by Kevin. I have known many good fathers but Kevin was the very best. It was an honour to be his friend and wonderful to witness his love for Barb.

My sincere condolences to Kevin’s family and friends. I had the pleasure of meeting Kevin a few years ago. I had not known how much of a man of the sea he was! I reflect fondly on our mutual connection to Grand Manan and how he sent me on a mission to get him some fresh dulse while visiting family there! I have known the Kliffer family for almost 30 years now and can appreciate what a special place he undoubtedly holds with family and friends.

So very sad to hear of Kevin's passing. I knew Kevin from working at the Courtenay Bay Plant. He was always such a happy go-lucky man and always smiling. I worked in the office and he had come there once in awhile concerning his work and then joked around with the office staff before he went back to the Chemical Dept. God bless his Family and I will be thinking and praying for you as you lay him to Rest. Stay Strong !!!

I’m deeply saddened to hear of Kevin’s passing. He wasn't just a family friend; he was a best friend to my Dad, and was like family who was always there when needed with a smile on his face. He was a great supporter of my Dad, bringing strength, light and companionship throughout their great many years of friendship. We were so lucky to have him share in many important milestones with our family. He was like a “fun uncle” to us kids, with sailing trips, laughs and the delicious cooking he shared. I know his spirit will live on in our hearts, reminding us to embrace life with the same vigor and positivity that he embodied.
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this profound loss.

So sad to hear of Kevin’s passing. Karen and I were reminiscing today about all the great times we had together. What a great friend. You knew Kevin always had your back and never had to guess how he felt about you. We are so lucky to have known Kevin and thankful for him introducing us to the world of sailing and all the great memories that has created for us.
Kevin was always happy to take anyone who wanted to go for a sail and we were hooked from the beginning and we are still sailing thanks to him.l
I will miss you old friend. Your infectious laugh and “ i love you brother”hugs.
I will think of you every time I jump on my boat. So glad we got out for that one last sail.
I’ll see you in Fiddlers Green

Our deepest and sincere condolences. Kevin is a great testament to his parents, siblings, children, and his extended family. Like most great pillars of our families, his greatness comes from a foundation of love, hard work, and sharing his life with love ones. It will always be the journey not the destination that we will remember and help forge our children and grandchildren into the future. May we all be inspired by his life's journey. God bless all The Thornes and their families!

My sister and I grew up with Kevin as our neighbor and Lindsay as our primary playmate. Kevin was an enormous part of my childhood whether he was taking us kids May-flower picking, sailing, swimming at the beach, sledding, or any manner of fun. He was always there with his huge smile and his adventurous spirit.
I have so many memories, but my favorite happened when I was six or seven. One beautiful summer day, temperatures warmed enough to melt the tar patching the road. The tar wasn’t just soft, it was bubbling and flowing. This proved irresistible to three plucky little girls and my sister, Lindsay, and I played and played in that tar puddle. Then, come supper time, we trotted home to Kevin’s house where he was confronted with three happy tar-smeared faces. Gruffly, but not unkindly Kevin dug out his turpentine and proceeded to clean tar from faces, out of hair, off blackened hands, and grubby knees. We were a mess! Aside from some exclaiming and a stern warning not to play in the tar again, Kevin delt with it in his typical kind, competent, and unflappable way. To me, this is who Kevin was.
Thank you, Kevin. Thank you for being a guide during my childhood, my Grandmother’s surrogate son, and an incredible person. You are sorely missed.

Kevin and I go way back I think we first met when I was 5 or 6. I lived year round in Westfield Kevin spent the summers at Westfield Beach. We had some great times growing up as members of the Crescent Gang and hanging out on beach every sunny day there was. He was a good friend growing up. Kev could be a little crazy at times but had a big heart. Kev see you on the other side.

What I will cherish about my Dad is how much love he gave, how selflessly he would run to help others, how he would consistently lift up those around him with a kind word, a funny joke, or a act of kindness.
I will do my best to remain grateful and comforted knowing how much my Dad positively affected the lives of others and myself. The love my Dad spread on this Earth continues to grow and will live on forever. I lost my Dad in body but not in spirit. His life, his influence and his energy is forever linked to mine and I take comfort in knowing that.

Kevin Thorne was my Godfather and Uncle - he was always present at the most meaningful extended family gatherings as I grew up. He taught me how to steer his sailboat, "Heart Strings." I seldom saw him without his bright blue eyes shining and smiling from ear to ear. My sincere condolences to his wife, his amazing children, and his friends. May he rest in peace, Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, by your death you took away the sting of death: Grant to us your servants so to follow in faith where you have led the way, that we may at length fall asleep peacefully in you and wake up in your likeness; for your tender mercies' sake. Amen.
