Obituary of Joseph John Blanchard
It is with a heavy heart that the family of John Blanchard announce his passing on May 30, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital in Saint John, NB. He was 58 years old.
John was born on January 31, 1966 to the late Rose Alma Pineau and Gerald Blanchard in Black's Harbour, NB. He will be deeply missed by his daughter's, Alisa Blanchard (Andrew), Toronto, Sarah Baglole (Paul), and granddaughter Margaret Jane (MJ), Hamilton, ON.
He is survived by his siblings, Jim Blanchard (Mary-Ruth), Miramichi, NB, Judy MacLean (Archie), Fredericton, NB, Kevin Malley (Sherry), Lethbridge, AB, Jack Malley (Debora), Toronto, his beloved Aunt, Lucie Marlow, Miramichi, who raised him as her own, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his infant twin sister, Joan.
John was a 1984 graduate of James M Hill High School, Chatham, NB, and moved to Hamilton ON in 1985 to work in Maintenance for the City of Hamilton Public Library System. He retired in the spring of 2022 and returned to the Miramichi to follow his interests of homesteading, hiking, fishing, kayaking and gardening.
In honour of his quiet, gentle manner, a private gathering will be held at his sister's farm along the shores of Black River Bridge, NB, where he spent many happy hours at the shore, in the fields and appreciating nature.
His care is under the direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, Saint John, NB. A private internment will occur at a later date.
For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
