My sincere condolences to all of the McAdam family. I had heard of Leo most of my life, but only met him during his recent hospitalization when he was in the same room as my husband. Despite a very challenging situation and what must have been significant pain for him, Leo was always positive, pleasant, and respectful to all who entered his room. He was a true gentleman. It was a pleasure to meet him, and to meet all of you. You are all to be commended in your commitment to being there with him on a daily basis.

Dear Jocelyn and family,
My first pair of glasses I got in grade 3, when I was 8 years old, and Mr. McAdam made me feel like they were the coolest things I could ever get. You were among my first neighbours growing up and I remember your dad always with a big smile and chatting up the kids of the neighborhood when we'd be hanging out together. I had a babysitter, Mrs Devlin who used to stay with me when my parents went away and she always looked forward to that time because she liked talking politics with your dad when we we'd run into him. I remember her saying, Leo gets it! He was smart and engaging and had thoughtful opinions and even though I was little, I could see he was a colorful storyteller.
I look back fondly on that period of my life and growing up on Deveber Terrace. I'm thinking of you today as you celebrate your dad and a life well lived.
I hope warm memories comfort you always.
Lots of love,
Stacey Bernstein

My condolences to the family on Mr Mc Adam’s death. He provided me with my first pair of glasses at the Coburg st office when I was 11. He was a friend of my mother’s and there was a lot of chatter while he polished my lenses with the cloth he kept over the shoulder of his pristine white opticians jacket. In later years when I knew him as an adult he became “Leo” and we would always stop and discuss issues of the day. Sorry to lose another familiar friend uptown.
