Obituary of Leo Anthony McAdam

The death of Leo McAdam of Quispamsis, husband of Barbara (Thomas) McAdam, occurred on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 in the tender care of Bobby’s Hospice.  Born July 3, 1929 in Lake Verde, PEI, he was the son of the late James and Margaret McAdam. 

Leo was a well-known and respected Canadian politician during the 80s and 90s.  He was a prominent local businessman, owning and operating McAdam Optical, for many decades.  Leo was also an active and proud volunteer within his community.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Leo will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kim McAdam, Rod McAdam, Susan Johnston (Marc), Geoff McAdam (Mary), Jocelyn Graham (Chris) and Tim McAdam; step-children, Karen Gallagher (Al), Judi Gallagher (Steve), Michael Gallagher (Karen) and Tricia Gallagher (Dave); eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Besides his parents and sister, Martina McDougall, he was predeceased by his first wife, Eileen and daughter, Kathy.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Holy Spirit Parish (St. Rose of Lima Worship Site), 541 Milford Road, West Saint John, from 11:00 AM until the beginning of the Mass of Christian Burial, which will start at 12:00 PM.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
